Description Overview

Supports corporate EHS and department objectives through management consulting, training and development, inspections, audits and investigations, ergonomic reviews, environmental regulatory evaluations and committee assignments related to the environment, safety and health.

Scope of the Role

  • Provides EHS expertise to client areas by advising of potential safety hazards and environmental requirements and correcting any deficiencies.   Interfaces with operations management and the engineering departments to provide input and advice on the safe and environmentally sound design and construction of new and renovated buildings, processes and/or equipment. 
  • Manages hazardous waste program, including evaluation of regulations, writing guidance documents for internal resources and auditing system components for compliance.  When required audits third party manufacturers and waste management companies
  • Manages Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory compliance program for shipping hazardous materials.  Works cooperatively with areas of the organization to ensure adequate training and compliance program established internally.
  • Facilitates compliance program for waste water for PMI including monitoring, records keeping and reporting to local authorities.
  • Conducts EHS inspections/audits to identify and evaluate hazards and prevent incidents, coordinates documentation activities and follow up.
  • Advises global locations in areas of expertise, including waste water, hazardous waste, and DOT issues when required/requested.  

Experience Required

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 3-5 years experience in safety, environmental engineering and/or industrial hygiene.
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems, hazardous waste and transportation regulations, and local, state and federal related compliance requirements.
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate teams with ability to develop and manage budgets.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements and best practices, the ability to influence, and effective presentation skills.
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of various programs including Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of product reliability, blue print reading, toxic and reactive chemistry, and hazard communication.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical operations is highly desirable.
