Description Overview

Reporting to the Tablet Manufacturing Asset Reliability Supervisor, this position will be required to perform inspections, basic maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of manufacturing, packaging, and facilities equipment. This position will also be required to perform other general maintenance tasks as needed.

Scope of the Role

Responsibilities also include completing general work orders in SAP, interfacing with other technicians across all three shifts in a team environment, machine rebuilding, preventive maintenance, special projects, and may also include welding or machining of parts. This position will also be responsible for ordering parts and adhering to a timeline for work completion. There is a possibility that there could be travel involved to other manufacturing and packaging sites within and outside of Allegan.


This is a single-trade machine repair position. The person who successfully bids on this position will be required to complete a Machine Repair Apprenticeship:

  • Preferred- Candidate has a certificate of completion as a Machine Repair Journey worker
  • Preferred- Having a second trade with a certificate of completion as an Electrical Journey Worker, licensed with the State of Michigan

 

Experience Required

High School Diploma/GED required
•    Experience in a Machine Repair trade(s) or ORT position preferred; consideration may also be given to those who are currently apprentices in other trades.
•    Demonstrated cooperative work conduct and the ability to work independently. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. 
•    Strong oral and written communication skills required.  Strong computer skills, ability to read and work from blueprints, and good math skills are preferred.
•    Demonstrated commitment to meeting schedules and deadlines through good attendance and willingness to work overtime, including weekends, are also necessary
•    Working from ladders, lifts, heavy lifting, and own transportation are necessary and essential functions of the job. 
•    Must have or be able to obtain a PIE equipment certification shortly after taking this role. 
•    Job will require shift flexibility, for training rotations and to attend classes.
•    Willingness to mentor apprentices

**Protective Equipment Requirement**
Must be able to wear negative and/or positive pressure respirators daily for long periods of time. Must be medically cleared to wear respirators without restrictions.
