Description Overview

As the Sustainability & ESG Manager, you’re ultimate objective is to report on and support the company efforts on such goals as becoming NetZero by 2040, using 100% renewable electricity, reducing water and waste to name a few.  To do this, you’ll be responsible for creating and executing strategies that are foundational to Perrigo’s social and environmental objectives.  You’ll manage and analyze data, report on this information internally and externally to customers and other stakeholders, report to ESG indices such as the CDP, manage projects, and a broad network of contacts.  Additionally, you will conduct research, make strategic recommendations, communicate policies, create project plans, write reports, and build relationships cross-functionally and internationally, while implementing and coordinating a wide range of initiatives that support the company’s sustainability goals.

Scope of the Role

Sustainability Data and KPI Data Management (40%) – Oversee the key data elements that drive environmental responsibility within Perrigo and support corporate CSR goals.  This includes, but not limited to timely gathering and reporting of energy, water and waste data from global Perrigo sites, as well as benchmarking, best practice sharing, and collaborating with Procurement, Operations, Sales, Investor Relations, Environmental Health and Safety and other cross functional teams.

Internal and External Reporting (30%) -Understand, research, and report as needed to the needs of external stakeholders, such as the CDP, Ecovadis and Customer surveys.  Stay in front of, and prepare for, upcoming reporting legislation and emerging data requirements from investors, customers, and other stakeholders.

Work collaboratively with Finance, Investor Relations, Legal, EH&S and other stakeholders to ensure we are capturing and evolving our data to meet new reporting requirements. Prepare presentations, training, reports, and charts accordingly for internal and external communications.

Manage and/or support special projects and initiatives (20%) - related to one or more of the sustainability focus areas including, climate, packaging, supply chain, outreach events, and other sustainability initiatives.  work closely with Marketing, Sales, HR, EHS, and other departments to develop policies and procedures, both globally and locally.

CSR Employee Engagement (10%) – Work with leadership throughout Perrigo to advance a culture of good corporate citizenship by promoting or communicating CSR initiatives, including the writing and publishing of internal articles via intranet site and coordinating events including Earth Day and managing our Sharepoint site.

Experience Required

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are critical, with ability to communicate to all levels of an organization, including executives.
  • Must be strong in data management and analysis, with the ability to organize, compile, interpret and communicate complex data effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively across functions, with suppliers, with large customers and across different cultures.
  • Must be able to effectively influence without authority.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and be adaptable to work under ambiguity.
  • Must be passionate and self-motivated on CSR and sustainability topics, yet demonstrate appropriate business acumen to influence and execute appropriately.
  • Project management experienced is required.
  • Minimum six (6) years relevant work experience leading social and environmental initiatives in Environmental, Marketing, Compliance, Supply Chain or related business function required.
  • Strong understanding of energy, GHG emissions and climate is a must.
  • Experience with sustainability reporting standards and indices such as GRI and CDP is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
