Description Overview
Reporting to the Transport Manager, the primary role of the Transport Clerk is be to support transportation planning and customer service operations through accurate documentation, coordination, and communication with internal and external stakeholders. You will interact transport managers, customer integration managers, supply planning team, trade and compliance team, finance team, data analytics team, IT, and procurement.
Scope of the Role
You will:
- Assist in transport planning and scheduling activities.
- Prepare and process transport documentation, including invoices, shipping orders, and delivery notes.
- Coordinate with transport providers to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
- Maintain accurate records of transport activities and costs.
- Respond to customer inquiries and provide updates on shipment status.
- Support the Transport Planning and Customer Service Manager in reporting and performance reviews.
- Implement corrective actions to address performance gaps.
- Ensure compliance with transportation rules and regulations.
Experience Required
- Ideally you will hold a 3rd level qualification or equivalent, preferably with coursework in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field.
- Language skills - English (Required); Second Language would be an advantage.
- Proficiency in Transport Management Systems (eg) Transporen and data analytics tools (eg) SAP, Power BI
- Strong operational knowledge.
- Cost reduction project experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Execllent communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels, demonstrating expertise, professionalism and trust.
- Financially fluent with transportation costs and reporting.
- Understanding of transportation rules and regulations; standard processes and business policies
