Description Overview

Develop, implement, and maintain Quality processes for the planning, coordination and execution of raw and packaging material disposition.  Collaboration with R&D and Procurement Specialists for deviation management regarding exceptional release request or reject as appropriate. Works with a cross-functional team including factory procurement, production and planning to ensure key factory priorities and functional requirements are met utilizing appropriate measures and trend analysis.  Acts as a vendor contact for real time initiation of deviation investigation. Supports continuous vendor improvement via the Supplier Management Improvement Process. Will be responsible to conduct onsite Supplier Audit for the facility annually based on the requirement. Collaborates with Quality Control and Quality Assurance to ensure the completion of the Qualification and Contaminant monitoring programs though sampling and submission/release of ingredient with associated finished product compliance management.


This position will work autonomously under the supervision of the Quality Compliance Supervisor.

Scope of the Role

  • Quality Mastership:  Responsible for set up, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of incoming sampling, testing, data entry and release program for incoming materials (packaging and ingredient). Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of incoming material standard procedures for the factory from sampling to disposition including but not limited to routine, investigative and monitoring programs in collaboration with R&D, procurement, and Quality Control.   Coordinate investigation of non-conforming results.  Responsible for performing the disposition decision for compliant materials as well as non-conforming incoming materials following appropriate approval process.  
     
  • Quality System: Factory level owner of the Supplier Management Improvement (SMI) program.  Is responsible for the collection and submission of deviation reports to the SMI program.  Act as the primary contact for ingredient and packaging vendors, working with the vendors to develop corrective actions for deviations identified at receipt or during production with coordinating with R&D and factory or corporate procurement as appropriate.  Act as factory level approver for vendor submitted SMI actions. 
     
  • Quality Guardianship: Support HACCP through coordination, completion and communication of qualification testing supporting R&D for new materials or recipe modifications.  Support factory HACCP by review and communication of results for incoming materials analysis including contaminant monitoring.  Ensure finished product compliance using appropriate action level resulting from incoming materials analysis.
     
  • Responsible to update as appropriate the factory Quality Monitoring Scheme for incoming materials in coordination with Quality Assurance.  Prepare, review and maintain records of inspection and disposition in accordance with regulatory.  Participate in mock recall and trace exercises.  Support Kosher and regulatory programs by acting as a factory contact with respect to incoming materials handling and maintenance and during audits.
     
  • Supports consumer complaint investigation batch file reviews and improvement activities for prevention as they relate to packaging materials and ingredients.
     

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (preferred microbiology, chemistry or food science)
  • Minimum of 3 years Quality Experience
  • Experience in Infant Formula or Pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Supplier Audit experience preferred
