Description Overview

The Sr. Process Engineering role will provide technical expertise and solutions to improve operational performance at Perrigo Wisconsin Plant. This position explores innovative and alternate solutions to meet business needs while providing great customer service. This role works closely with the entire engineering team, and operations team to address immediate performance gaps when escalated and while cross functionally to implement changes and to investigate/resolve problems impacting plant safety, quality, and efficiency. This position has large opportunities for growth both in the role and within the company. 

Scope of the Role

  • Day to Day Operations 
    • Reviews the previous 24 hours of production data on designated work centers. Addresses any urgent business needs in a timely manner.
    • Examples include general troubleshooting, contacting vendors, and Gemba support. 
    • Tracks line efficiency (Pareto charts, DT, and work center-based data tracking software)
    • Monitors and follows up on changes to ensure impact and ROI are achieved. 
  • Lean Six Sigma (Zero Loss Mentality + Perrigo Work System Focus) 
    • Coordinates and leads continuous improvement projects aimed at waste reduction and efficiency improvements by streamlining processes and improving capability.
    • Aligns with cross functional business partners on prioritizing projects 
    • Works independently and in a team setting to develop and implement solutions 
    • DMAIC problem solving approach 
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) 
    • Acts as technical expert with a broad knowledge and deep expertise of the latest packaging equipment and associated technology.
    • Provides training to operations and various support groups as an SME
    • Demonstrated understanding of core engineering principles. 
    • Ability to solve complex technical problems in novel ways by applying concepts, theories, and techniques. 
    • Support operations to meet applicable laws such as: Compliance, OSHA, Environmental, Safety, cGMP as well as Corporate and Site Quality requirements.
  • Capital Improvement Projects or Direct replacement Projects (Cradle to grave asset support) 
    • Organizes and generates all relevant data to prepare project scopes, cost estimates, economic justifications, and capital appropriation requests, as required, to obtain management approval.
    • Provides engineering support in developing and implementing equipment installations and process improvement to support packaging operations.
    • Including support for URS, FAT, IQ, OQ, PQ and successful vertical start up
    • As a project manager provides direction to allied support groups while interfacing with multiple departments, consultants, and contractors.

 

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Engineering Management preferred. 
  • Established understanding of engineering theoretical fundamentals of equipment operation and demonstrate the use of standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, flowcharts, schematics, as it relates to system design documentation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of lean principles and six sigma processes, including experience with different continuous improvement techniques.
  • Ability to make sound economic analyses with prudent financial judgment.
  • Ability to work toward broad goals and to exercise initiative in identifying projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with quality systems in an FDA current GMP regulated environment preferred.
  • Hands-on knowledge of production operations and associated control systems preferred.
