Description Overview
The Vice President of Nutrition Operations is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Perrigo’s nutrition manufacturing and packaging operations across multiple sites, including the flagship infant formula facility in Wisconsin. This role ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strategic alignment with corporate goals. This role will foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction, while driving profitable growth and innovation.
Scope of the Role
- Develop and execute long-term strategies for site positioning within the global network, including people, process, and asset optimization.
- Lead the creation and implementation of a 5-year capital plan and oversee annual execution.
- Align site operations with corporate strategic goals, ensuring agility in response to regulatory and market changes.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Oversee 24/7 operations of the infant formula manufacturing and packaging facilities, ensuring adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices and other regulatory standards.
- Manage production schedules, quality standards, cost objectives, and staffing plans to meet business goals.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Planning, Quality, Warehouse, Tech Ops, and CI Training teams to improve equipment, processes, and performance.
- Incumbent provides leadership in process improvement, working with engineers, supervisors and other production support staff to improve processes procedures and/or evaluate equipment.
- Delivers exceptional customer service and ensure product availability meets or exceeds expectations.
- Manage costs to maintain competitive advantage and support growth initiatives.
- Approve capital expenditures up to $100,000 and contribute to broader financial decisions.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements (FDA, OSHA, EPA) and maintain strong relationships with local officials.
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure environmental policies are upheld across all sites.
- Drive performance management, coaching, and training programs to enhance team capabilities and engagement.
Experience Required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Dairy/Food Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a GMP-regulated environment.
- Proven expertise in infant nutrition processes (e.g., evaporator, HTST/UHT, spray dryer, mix tanks).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communicator with demonstrated leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Deep understanding of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and work system methodologies.
