Description Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director - Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) for our infant formula network. The Senior Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of environmental health safety and security (EHS&S) programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and company policies. The successful candidate will be a proactive leader who can effectively manage EHS initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility all three infant formula facilities.  This role requires 50% travel to Plant sites in the US to drive solutions to complex technical EHS&S issues and affect change management.

Scope of the Role

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, programs, and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead and manage a team of EHS professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee contracted security teams at operating locations. 
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with EHS regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain existing environmental management systems certifications. 
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs to educate employees on safe work practices, emergency response procedures, and hazard identification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into all aspects of the organization, including new product development, process changes, and facility expansions.
  • Support Perrigo corporate EHS and sustainability initiatives. 
  • Stay current with emerging EHS trends, regulations, and best practices, and proactively implement changes to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead incident investigations and provide timely and accurate reporting to management, regulatory agencies, and other relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Maintain relationships with external regulatory agencies, industry groups, and other relevant stakeholders to stay informed about EHS requirements and industry best practices.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure EHS performance, track progress, and report on trends to senior management.
  • Ensure proper management of hazardous materials, waste, and emissions, including implementing appropriate controls and monitoring systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop emergency response plans to address potential incidents and ensure the safety and well-being of employees, visitors, and the surrounding community.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the safety culture throughout the Nutrition Business Unit  by using Human Organizational Performance (HOP), Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) or other tools to drive and enhance employee engagement

Experience Required


  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant agencies.
  • Prior experience managing EHS management systems (i.e., ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001) Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with the ability to effectively manage a team and drive results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Experience in incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis methodologies.


  • Professional certifications in EHS (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Material Manager, Certified Industrial Hygienist) are highly desirable.
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
