Description Overview

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Manager for our infant formula site that must have previous industry experience (pharmaceutical, food, dairy), a thorough understanding of cGMPs, and well-demonstrated leadership acumen.

This role will manage all aspects of plant facility and equipment maintenance to ensure maximum production quality and quantity while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. Plant and equipment systems include utilities (compressed air, nitrogen generation, boilers, water treatment, HVAC, electrical), liquefying/blending, compounding, pasteurization/homogenization, spray drying, and packaging.


Scope of the Role

  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.  Works to advance and promote the safety culture at the site.
  • Provides a daily presence in manufacturing and facility areas to support operations by troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues for a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Complies with cGMP documentation requirements and writes change controls, maintenance work orders, standard operating procedures, and related documents.
  • Effectively delegates repairs of mechanical, plumbing, hydraulic, electrical, instrumentation, utility, and facility systems and ensures repairs are performed in a timely manner.
  • Drives continuous improvement by optimizing the execution of predictive maintenance, preventive maintenance, and reactive maintenance.
  • Monitors contractors to ensure quality of work, compliance with Perrigo’s policies, effectiveness of services, and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensures availability of spare parts and maintains a well-organized spare parts inventory.
  • Participates in investigations and recommends and implements corrective actions and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve product quality and reliability of equipment, facilities, and utilities.
  • Organizes and leads cross-functional teams and acts as the technical project manager for maintenance repairs and upgrade projects.
  • Proactively tracks, reports, and consistently achieves key performance metrics for the department.
  • Enforces good housekeeping practices and maintains an organized work environment.
  • Maintains the facility grounds and yards.
  • Ensures all employees understand and follow department objectives and company policies and procedures.
  • Assesses training needs of staff and ensures execution of training.
  • Conducts performance reviews, goal setting, development, and coaching of department staff.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an engineering or science discipline.
  • A minimum of 6 years related maintenance work experience in a food, dairy, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Prior management experience is required.
  • Ability to read and understand process flow, process and instrumentation, piping, mechanical, and structural drawings.   Must be experienced with AutoCAD.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be proficient in the following computer-based applications and functions: computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) such as SAP, PC based operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Thorough understanding of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in a food processing or pharmaceutical environment. Previous experience working in an FDA regulated industry is preferred.
  • A working knowledge and understanding of spray drying production processes is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills and high integrity.
  • Comfortable interfacing with all levels of the organization.
  • Must have the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple complex tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly focus and establish department priorities.
  • Must be highly results orientated and able to work in a changing environment where a high degree of teamwork and collaboration are required, communicate effectively (both verbally and written), handle multiple assignments, handle wide diversity of assignments, and work with a minimum of supervision.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical equipment. The employee may be exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions, high noise environments, dusty environments and chemicals used in the process.
