Description Overview

 

Perrigo Nutritionals is currently searching for a Quality Assurance Engineer for our Infant Formula manufacturing facility in Georgia, Vermont.

Under the direction of the Senior Quality Manager, the Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for leading, from a quality and food safety perspective, product deviation investigations and other initiatives as assigned. The key objective of this role is to develop and maintain quality processes to reduce variation in operating methods thereby improving the reliability and repeatability of processes and eliminating defects. The Quality Assurance Engineer will support the manufacturing facility and drive a preventative quality culture through data driven activities.

 

Expected Salary range - $75,000 - $85,000

Scope of the Role

 

  • Works cross-functionally with Continuous Improvement Team to manage, disposition, and develop system improvements for OOS and defective materials (raw, packaging components, finished product) using TPM process (e.g., FMEA, SPC, 5 Why, 12 Step, DMAIC, Risk Assessments, etc.).
  • Critically analyze processes, procedures, systems, and practices to identify current gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Drives process capability improvements through variation reduction, error-proofing, and implementation of statistics where appropriate; this includes collecting and analyzing data to identify and prioritize
  • Identifies opportunities and delivers improvement of product and process quality   
  • Acts as SME for start-up of processes and quality troubleshooting /consultation
  • Collaborates with Production, Packaging, Maintenance, Engineering, Warehouse and Quality Teams to understand, optimize and implement quality/ food safety standards and best practices
  • Assists Supplier Quality with audits of suppliers

Experience Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, or closely aligned field
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in Quality Assurance of infant formula, food or beverage, or similar industry is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to apply cGMPs and US FDA laws and requirements in an FDA regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize multiple tasks and change priorities to meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills, well-developed interpersonal skills, and technical writing aptitude are essential.
  • Prior professional experience in inspection, quality control, food safety and quality assurance in an infant formula, pharmaceutical, food, beverage or related industry is required.
  • Experience with performance of supplier audits and managing responses needed
  • Computer literacy is required
