The Senior Category Manager is the focal point to support the commercial & category strategy and hence delivery of trade objectives for a selection of categories, in addition to be the commercial & category strategy expert for the omnichannel strategy.

 

Reporting to the Head of CSI and work closely with all the commercial team members, the Senior Category Manager has the following main responsibilities:
 

Scope of the Role

  • Define cross channel commercial plans for the categories and brands of competence; declination of these plans in sales team guidelines (distribution, assortment, price, promotion, discount, display and merchandising)
  • Definition of assortment priorities by brand/ channel and development of category projects by channel
  • Lead the commercial input for relevant existing brands and NPDs in the stage gate and budgeting process, providing customer, category and shopper input into brand plans, developing plans for their improvement, highlighting opportunities and barriers to success, and recommending correction plans
  • Establish clear business guidelines for commercial spend investment and work with Sales members to tailor category-brand plans to their customers
  • Canvass priority management with coordination of commercial activities and definition of tracking reports
  • Monitoring of sales fundamentals (sell-in, sell-out, market share data) for relevant categories and return on investment analysis on activities
  • Design the toolkit that enables the commercial team (CS&I and Sales members) to deliver the commercial strategy & tactics. This includes preparation and delivery of concept sells and trade engagement materials for relevant brands/categories, setting clear commercial guidelines for trade spend investment
  • Develop external relationships with commercial and category contacts, presenting category strategy in line with corporate plans & insights, directly to customers
  • Coordination of POP materials for assigned brands

Experience Required

  • University Degree in a related discipline
  • Typically a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience 
  • Fluency in English and Italian 
  • Excellent relationship building capabilities
  • Strong  negotiation & problem solving skills
