We recognize that people living with rare diseases often have severe and potentially life-threatening disabilities that impact not only their quality of life, but also the lives of those who care for them. Delays in diagnosis, together with the lack of effective treatments are just some of the challenges faced by people living with a rare disease.


 
We are looking for a Country Lead Rare Diseases to manage the German and Austrian territories. In this position you will have full responsibility for the management and development of RD business in the markets as well as participation in the definition of the promotional strategy of the zone. You will respect and ensure compliance with local promotional regulations and look after product specialist management (In charge of the realisation of the duo visits, annual review) in addition to overseeing and ensuring the smooth flow of products to the market. The role offers variety and autonomy - ideal for those looking to expand their skill sets and work with a high degree of visibility. As part of the wider European Commercial team, you will participate in meetings and share your experience, best practice, and ideas for development of the business.

Scope of the Role

Promotional activities : 

  • Acquire, maintain, and share a high level of knowledge regarding the product, the market, the competition, and aspects related to the health environment in the assigned area.
  • Organise and lead meetings with physicians and key opinion leaders. 
  • Make good use of the material, commercial policies available in line with the communication strategy validated by global marketing, medical and regulatory departments. 
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with patient organisations and propose collaborative projects with them.
  • Participate in regional, national and international congresses and represent HRA RD in front of healthcare professionals.
  • Bring together the various actors with the aim of optimising patient journey.
  • Share best practices, knowledge, and information with other cluster leads.

 

Regulatory and compliance :

  • Conform with Regulations and ethical professional dispositions.
  • Adhere to Territory regulations regarding promotional activities. 
  • Adhere to HRA RD Guidelines, 
  • Follow Regulations related to the transparency of links for data collected concerning the health professionals visited. 

Deployment of the promotional information strategy in its zone based on global strategy provided by HQ.

  • Definition and planning of the operational objectives of promotional information of his/her zone (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Adaptation of promotional materials to conform with local regulations.
  • Implementation and follow-up of the promotional strategy (stakeholder engagement, budget follow-up, product priorities…)

 

Follow-up and steering of the activity on its zone.

  • Contribution to the design and continuous improvement of activity monitoring and analysis tools (dashboards, performance evaluation, graphs...)
  • Analysis of the impact of campaigns based on feedback from the field and ensuring consistency in the application of the product promotion plan.
  • Evaluation of results and monitoring of operating accounts for the geographical zone concerned.
  • Controlling the promotional information teams’ expenses and fees
  • Following up on the Business Drivers’ budget

 

Management and animation of the zone.

  • Organization and coordination of the local Product Specialist, proactively manage the colleague’s activity and planning.
  • Responsible for the completion of projects within the budget and the defined deadline
  • Supporting and following-up on the professional development of the product specialists (reviews, trainings, monitoring of regional development plans, etc.)
  • Management of human resources within his/her scope (recruitment, evaluation, training, duo visits...)
     

Experience Required

  • More than 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, or medical sector, ideally in rare diseases including:
  • more than 2 years of management experience
  • Marketing experience – creation/adaptation of materials
  • University Degree - [ideally in Life Sciences] in addition to significant experience in the pharmaceutical sector 
  • Professional Fluency in English and German
  • Experience working with Rare Diseases / Orphan Drugs would be an advantage
  • Advanced Selling Skills – Able to talk knowledgeably with International and National Opinion Leaders
  • Strong interpersonal skills in multi-cultural environment
  • Effective presentation and communication skills
