Description Overview
Provides analysis that supports the microbiological testing of finished products, stability samples, cleaning samples, raw materials and media through media preparation, sampling, sample testing, and review and validation of data.
Please note, this is a 1st shift opening.
Scope of the Role
• Compositing of samples and preparation
• Sample receipt and testing documentation
• Performs microbiological testing of materials for microbiological quality
• Performs enrichment transfers and plate reading
• Conduct identification testing; sub-culturing, Gram staining, and MALDI-TOF proteotypic speciation
• Maintains laboratory work area and general laboratory cleaning.
• Data review and support of laboratory investigations.
• Participates in training program
Experience Required
• Good written, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and with others.
• Ability to learn and use electronic lab data systems such as LES, CIMS and SAP-QM
• Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibility for the results.
• BS in Microbiology, Biology, or related science.
• Up to one year of experience in a Microbiology Lab either in pharmaceutical or other industrial setting, and background in aseptic techniques.
• Able to recognize process/procedure revision opportunities and submit for revision.
• Working towards more advanced problem-solving skills utilizing less assistance/support from others based upon relevant lab experience.
• Shows interest in Continuous Improvement/projects/committees/Mentor Program to support lab initiatives.
• Independently seeks clarification of ambiguous or incomplete Quality data, can make educated suggestions for improvements in processes and train others.
• Assists with trouble shooting and data discrepancies.
• Independently prioritizes tasks and manages time.
• Able to lift upwards of 30 lbs. and perform repetitive tasks such as pipetting, streaking w/inoculating loops, diluent shaking, and swirling of molten agar plates.
