Description Overview
In this role you will join the production management team who manages a team of operators (typically 10-20 people, occasionally more on a temporary basis) who are responsible for the activities of a group of production lines in manufacturing or packing. Other reports include Line Coordinators, in the case of packing, and Tool Room Technicians, in the case of manufacturing.
The day-to-day activities include achieving safety, quality, volume, cost, and behavioural expectations of the team with timely escalation of deviations where required.
The role includes responsibility for training, appraisals, first level attendance reviews and supporting recruitment and disciplinary investigations.
You will report to the Production Shift Manager but interacts with other internal stakeholders (typically Engineering and Quality departments) and occasionally external stakeholders according to the needs of the task being undertaken.
Scope of the Role
- Assure the safety of oneself and others by ensuring respect for Perrigo safetysystems and influencing positively the behaviour of the one’s team.
- Assure the achievement of relevant quality checks by the one’s team, withappropriate follow up of deviations including leading QE First Responses andInvestigations.
- Manage order-related processes and documentation of one’s production lines,and from time to time of additional lines.
- Manage the activities of the one’s team to optimize the achievement of theproduction plan, deciding on priorities where required.
- Collect and enters data into electronic data collection systems.
- Interrogate and analyses electronic data related to safety, quality, production,cost and people.
- Participate or leads improvement projects related to safety quality, productivity,cost or behaviour.
- Organise procedural updates associated with one’s production lines.
- Motivate your team to meet and beat targets. These measures are defined onthe scorecard and typically include safety good catches and inspections, First Time Right, achievement of production plan, changeover times, cost improvement projects, attendance criteria.
- Complete in a timely manner, one-to-one reviews, return to work interviews, appraisals, and where required file notes, Performance Improvement Plans, and level 1 attendance reviews.
- Develop and implements a training plan which allows lines to run according to the demands of the production plan.
- Conduct handovers to colleagues and participates in meetings when required (ideally within contracted work time).
- Escalate decisions and information, where required.
- Undertake other reasonable duties that may be required from time-to-time to support the Perrigo business.
Experience Required
Eessential
- Numeracy and literacy skills to at least Level 2 Maths and English.
- Competent in MS Office software.
- Working knowledge and understanding of safety principles in the workplace.
- Experience of supervision, ideally in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods environment.
- Has demonstrated consistently the company core values and performance pillars (or equivalent for external candidates) over time.
- Demonstrates clear communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to internal, and occasionally, external stakeholders.
- Ability to listen to and influence others.
Desirable
- 5 GCSEs at or above level 4 (or equivalent) including English and maths.
- Working knowledge of quality systems in a regulated environment.
- Recognised supervision and / or continuous improvement qualification.
