Description Overview
The Stores Clerk is responsible for supporting the site's Reliability, Maintenance, Production, and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs through effective storeroom management, inventory control, supply replenishment, material transactions, administrative support, and safety program coordination.
This role is responsible for managing both maintenance inventory and production operating supplies. They will ensure materials, spare parts, consumables, tools, PPE, and operational supplies are available to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The position also provides administrative support for maintenance, procurement, and EH&S processes, including supply ordering, safety action tracking, and continuous improvement activities.
The Stores Clerk serves as the primary resource for storeroom organization, spare parts management, production supply inventory control, receiving and issuing materials, PPE inventory management, maintenance support activities, and EH&S administrative coordination.
Approximately 85% of time will be dedicated to storeroom, inventory, and maintenance support activities, with approximately 15% of time dedicated to EH&S administrative support and action management.
Scope of the Role
Inventory Management (Both Production Supplies and MRO)
- Manage inventory and replenishment of production operating supplies and maintenance parts required to support manufacturing operations.
- Partner with two 3rd party vendors (Medline and Fastenal) for production parts locker management and stocking and maintenance consumable part management.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels for consumable production supplies, sanitation materials, operating supplies, and miscellaneous facility supplies.
- Monitor usage trends and inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Coordinate stock replenishment activities.
- Track and manage inventory transactions for maintenance materials, production supplies, and operational consumables.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Purchasing to identify inventory requirements and optimize stocking strategies.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and organization for all maintenance, production, and operational supply categories.
Administrative Purchasing and PPE Support
- Support purchasing and ordering activities for maintenance materials, production consumables, facility supplies, office supplies, and miscellaneous operational requirements.
- Coordinate procurement and replenishment of site PPE inventory including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, protective clothing, and other required safety equipment.
- Monitor PPE inventory levels and ensure adequate availability for site personnel.
- Assist with vendor communications, quotation requests, supplier follow-up, and order tracking.
- Maintain purchasing records and support invoice reconciliation activities when required.
- Work closely with Purchasing, EH&S, and Operations teams to ensure timely delivery of required materials and supplies.
Environmental Health & Safety Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the site's Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs and initiatives.
- Manage and administer the site's Good Catch/Near Miss reporting process.
- Review submitted Good Catch reports for completeness and appropriate categorization.
- Assign Good Catchs and safety observations to appropriate department owners for investigation and resolution.
- Monitor action item progress and escalate overdue actions through established site escalation processes.
- Maintain EH&S action tracking systems and ensure timely updates of corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner with Maintenance Planners, Supervisors, and Operations leaders to convert applicable Good Catch findings into maintenance work orders.
- Track work order completion and support closure of associated EH&S action items.
- Maintain documentation associated with safety observations, Good Catchs, corrective actions, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support EH&S reviews, audits, safety meetings, and regulatory documentation activities as requested.
- Generate reports and performance metrics related to safety observations, action item completion, and Good Catch program effectiveness.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through effective management of site safety observation and action tracking processes.
Experience Required
- High School Diploma required.
- Experience with SAP, CMMS, ERP systems, inventory software, or barcode scanning systems preferred.
- Experience with inventory management, receiving, shipping, stock control, and cycle counting preferred.
