Description Overview

 

This position reports directly to the VP, Supply Chain and Technology and will provide comprehensive legal support on global digital marketing, data, and privacy matters.  The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for counseling various businesses units and compliance on data, privacy, cybersecurity, digital marketing, and AI laws and regulations. This position will have a global scope but will focus primarily on the United States and the EU with other areas to be added with time as the business needs expand. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 

Scope of the Role

 

  • Provide legal support, counsel and risk assessment on high exposure privacy related matters and complex legal privacy issues for the business unit.
  • Oversee legal privacy matters, and coordination of any legal privacy matters handled by in-house or through third-party relationships to manage the company’s legal activities and minimize risk for the company.
  • Monitor changes in global privacy and data protection and compliance laws and work with business units to address these developments.
  • Collaborate with the global compliance and privacy team to evaluate the company’s activities, policies, practices and transactions to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and protect the company’s legal and business interests.
  • Collaborate with Perrigo’s global compliance and privacy team to educate the company and its employees on important privacy subjects.
  • Provide leadership and legal support for critical business development, mergers and acquisitions and other initiatives, particularly in the areas of privacy due diligence and advice.
  • Assist the litigation department manage, monitor, and advise on privacy litigation and any disputes or claims made (including managing of external counsel as needed).
  • Collaborate with the contracts teams to prepare/review proposed contracts (in particular privacy contract provisions subject to applicable privacy regulation) and other legal documents to safeguard the company’s interests.
  • Collaborate with the marketing teams to ensure website and other platforms are compliant.

Experience Required

 

 

  • A qualified and licensed attorney with at least 8 years’ privacy experience.
  • CIPP certifications preferred.
  • Broad experience as a legal advisor to a global business in an in-house corporate legal department.
  • Experience advising on data and privacy matters of regulated healthcare companies.
  • Experience advising on digital marketing compliance.
