Description Overview
We are currently looking for a Sr Innovation Manager to join our Perrigo Marketing, Innovation and Business Development team in Grand Rapids, MI. This candidate will be responsible for the innovation and growth for strategically important categories and brands.
The Sr. Innovation Manager will identify and lead product innovation opportunities, utilizing consumer trends and landscape assessments to identify areas for growth within the Self-Care Industry and Perrigo’s OTC portfolio. The Sr. Innovation Manager will work closely with Global, Local and Private Label Brand teams, and cross-functional partners to progress key pipeline initiatives from front-end innovation to commercialization.
Scope of the Role
- Identifies portfolio gaps within established OTC categories and leads innovation projects for either a branded or store branded entry into the identified opportunities.
- Identifies trends within OTC and adjacent categories that would allow Perrigo to bring new OTC and self-care solutions to market to better address consumer needs.
- Works with Insights and Analytics to identify consumer needs and trends for front-end innovation process; working with cross-functional partners to refine, size and commercialize innovation projects.
- Validates and tests NPD concepts using consumer-based quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
- Responsible for pipeline progress for whitespace and expansion opportunities.
Experience Required
- Typically these skills are obtained with a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, business or related field, combined with a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible business experience; MBA preferred.
- Must exhibit leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and navigate complex problems and processes inherent to OTC pharmaceuticals; previous experience within the OTC pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Ability to collaborate with technical cross-functional teams like Research & Development, Regulatory Affairs and Insights & Analytics, across global and local teams.
- Experience understanding consumer behavior and leveraging consumer insights to drive pipeline or portfolio management.
- Excellent financial acumen and project management skills necessary.
- Computer literacy and advanced skills in the use of MS Excel, Power Point, and Word are required.
- Requires self-motivation, marketing creativity, detail orientation, and commitment to deadlines.
- Pharmaceutical industry experience and CPG knowledge preferred.
- May require up to 20% travel.
